Elden Ring

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, which was released in February 2022. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and with contributions to the world-building by novelist George R. R. Martin, the game features an expansive open world called The Lands Between. Players take on the role of an adaptable character known as the Tarnished One. He must explore this world, fight fearsome foes and attempt to restore the Elden Ring to become the Lord of the Elden. The game builds on the challenging game mechanics familiar from the Dark Souls series, but introduces a more open structure with extended exploration, dynamic weather and a day-night cycle. It offers a deep story, complex characters and an interconnected world full of secrets, dungeons and powerful bosses.

Story

Elden Ring is set in the Interlands, a fictional realm ruled by several demigods. It was once ruled by the immortal Queen Marika, who acted as the guardian of the Elden Ring, a powerful force that manifested as a physical concept of order. When Marika shattered the Elden Ring and disappeared, her demigod children began to fight over pieces of the ring - an event called "The Shattering". Each demigod has a shard of the ring, called the Great Rune, which corrupts them with power. In the game, the player character is a Gloomy One, one of a group of exiles from the Interlands who have been called back after the Shattering. The player must traverse the realm to repair the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.
