eFootball

With a new brand identity for a new generation of consoles and players, eFootball represents a fresh approach to the long-running franchise. Revamped graphics, animations and gameplay signal a new era of virtual soccer. Available as a free-to-play version and completely redeveloped in the Unreal Engine.

Story

Players can determine the strength of the shot and the speed of the dribble - from a kick-off to a full run, just like in real soccer. In addition, eFootball on PlayStation 5 uses the controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to feel the difference between players' movements. With greater freedom to control how the player catches the ball, every game becomes a mind game. A wide range of dribbles and body tricks are also possible with intuitive commands. In combination, these ensure that each and every duel offers an exciting moment for both the attacker and the defender. Players can block their opponent's shot by throwing their body or reading the shot and cutting off the pass. Of course, stealing the ball near the opponent's goal is also an excellent scoring opportunity. eFootball replicates the "physical defense" that is so important in real soccer, with a charging command when defending. Besides, the offensive team can use its body to keep the ball in play, making the game more dynamic both offensively and defensively. The option to perform a "sharp shot" with new animations makes the game even more technical and exciting. Players can perform special shots, such as sharp crosses, quick slant passes, and rising shots. These new actions take more time to execute, so players must choose the right opportunities during a match. The eFootball development team has analyzed real-world soccer tactics to create new "1vs1" win/lose rules. Using motion matching technology, the game evaluates the ball, movement speed, body direction, physical skills and more in real time to influence each player's movements. These win/lose rules work with player movement to make the game more compelling, including revised foul decisions. Team play is an important part of soccer, so the AI that controls players off the ball has been revised. Combined with the new attack and defense controls, players now have much more freedom to play the way they want. The new "duel" camera zooms in when the player is in a 1vs1 situation, allowing the player to enjoy the 1vs1 scene from a greater distance. When the player is in a free situation, the field of view expands so the player can make a long pass at the right moment. The new motion-matching animation system makes player movements much more natural and fluid. In addition, ball movement has been further improved thanks to a partnership with a research institute. Finally, the action never stops during a match thanks to the Seamless Restart system.
