Story
Starting from this game, the player chooses a playable general character and plays through a series of levels that represent certain conflicts in the time of the three empires, to eventually defeat the other two empires and become ruler of the united China. However, this game is not a one-on-one fighting game like the original Dynasty Warriors, but a beat 'em up hack and slash fighting game in full 3D, similar to the genre of Fighting Force. Unlike previous games of the beat 'em up genre, in Dynasty Warriors 2 players could move freely within the boundaries of the current stage.
