Dying Light

Dying Light

Dying Light is a first-person action survival horror game set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, players traverse a sprawling urban environment infested with a vicious plague. They scour the world for supplies and craft weapons to defend themselves against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and increasingly dangerous. The most fearsome are the predators that appear only after the sun goes down. Players must do everything in their power to survive until the first light of dawn.

Story

In the city of Harran, a mysterious viral outbreak has turned most of the population into hyper-aggressive zombie-like creatures, forcing the Harran Ministry of Defense to quarantine the entire city. The Global Relief Effort (GRE) helps the survivors still trapped in the city by airdropping supplies on a regular basis. GRE hires Kyle Crane to infiltrate Harran to retrieve a sensitive file that Kadir Suleiman has stolen and plans to use to blackmail them. Crane is dropped off in Harran, where he is ambushed by a band of enemy bandits. When the infected attack, Crane is bitten and infected, but he is saved by Jade Aldemir and Amir Ghoreyshi. Amir sacrifices himself to buy Jade and Crane time, and Jade takes him to a haven for survivors called the Tower. Crane wakes up and meets Rahim Aldemir, Jade's brother. Rahim teaches Crane parkour and sends him to Spike, who gives him his first assignment as a resident of the Tower. Crane learns that the tower, which wants to help other survivors, is being harassed by a gang of bandits led by a warlord named Rais who steals and hoards supplies from the GRE airborne landings, including Antizin, a vaccine that suppresses the symptoms of infection and prevents bitten people from becoming infected. After Harris Brecken, the Tower's leader, is nearly killed by a rival runner during a mission to obtain Antizin, the need for the drug becomes immense. Crane volunteers and manages to get an airdrop of antizin. However, even though the survivors desperately need the vaccine, Crane is instructed by GRE to destroy the airdrop and contact Rais to purchase the vaccine and confirm his identity. Crane reluctantly agrees and informs the Tower that the supplies have been looted. Exasperated, Brecken tasks Crane with making a deal with Rais. When he meets Rais, Crane is able to confirm that he is indeed Suleiman. He performs a series of unethical tasks for Rais, believing that he will be rewarded with two crates of antizin. Crane is unable to find the file and is later betrayed by Rais, who gives him only five vials of antizine. He later breaks off the deal with the GRE when they stop deliveries and refuse to help the tower. The situation in the tower worsens and an entire floor is sealed off as an epidemic breaks out. During an errand, Rahim tells Crane that he and Omar planned to bomb an infected nest. Crane is opposed to this plan. After an argument over the radio, he takes up pursuit of the fleeing Rahim. When he catches up with him, he finds that Omar is dead, while Rahim has been wounded. He then carries out Rahim's plans and kills the infected at the compound. When he returns to Rahim, he finds that he has been bitten and transformed while Crane was away. When Crane returns to the tower to tell Brecken the news, Jade overhears them and leaves, visibly upset. Meanwhile, a scientist in the tower named Dr. Imran Zere, who has been trying to develop a cure for the virus, is kidnapped by Rais, prompting Crane to launch a rescue mission. Crane is also captured by Rais, who reveals that the file he stole contains evidence that GRE intends to weaponize the virus instead of developing a cure, and leaks the file to the public. Crane manages to escape before being executed, with Rais losing one of his hands. Dr. Zere is killed in the rescue attempt, but manages to tell Crane that he has entrusted his research to Jade, who is to pass it on to another scientist named Dr. Allen Camden. As Crane sets out to find Jade, he learns that the Ministry of Defense plans to bomb Harran to completely eradicate the plague, claiming that there are no survivors left in the city. He manages to reactivate a radio tower and send a message to the outside world, thwarting the Ministry's plan. Jade has been captured by Rais, who also steals Dr. Zere's research. Crane manages to rescue Jade and recover some of Dr. Zere's research, but Jade admits that she was bitten and begs Crane to stop Rais. Jade then succumbs to the wound, forcing Crane to kill her. After killing Rais' assistant, Tair, with his own machete, Crane gives the tissue samples to Dr. Camden, who believes he is close to finding the cure but needs the rest of the data from Dr. Zere. Crane finds out that Rais has made a deal with GRE to give them Dr. Zere's research data in exchange for extradition from Harran. Crane then storms Rais' headquarters (full of infected) and fights him on top of a skyscraper, eventually stabbing Rais in the neck and throwing him off the building. He recovers the research data and decides to give it to Dr. Camden instead of GRE to stay in Harran and help.
