Dragster

You have in your hands one of the most exciting video games ever developed. A word of warning: this game takes a little time to learn because it is so challenging. It is very tricky. So please read these instructions and give yourself some time to practice. Then you can aim for the world record. Game 1: Straight-line dragster, one or two players. Game 2: Steerable dragster, one or two players. Your joystick controller is both the clutch and the gear shift for your dragster; the red button is your accelerator pedal. Use the left joystick for the top car and the right joystick for the bottom car. Hold the joystick with the button on the top left. To shift gears, push the joystick to the left and shift gears by letting the joystick spring back to the center. Your car starts every race in neutral (N). There are four gears - 1, 2, 3, 4 - and you have to clutch and shift between the individual gears. You cannot downshift. When the countdown reaches 0, you can start. If you shift into gear too early before the end of the countdown, EARLY will appear on the screen and you will have to wait for the next race. You can engage the clutch during the countdown, but you cannot shift into first gear before the countdown reaches 0. The aim of Dragster is to beat your opponent across the screen or race against the clock for the best time.
