Devil Kings

"Devil Kings" is in the same style as the "Dynasty Warriors" series. However, while Koei focuses on ancient Chinese history in "Dynasty Warriors," "Devil Kings" places its emphasis more on feudal Japan —albeit in a fictional setting where you can use modern weapons like machine guns and shotguns and battle legendary and fictional figures from the past. The story takes place at a time when the Devil King—a king possessed by the devil’s soul—has unleashed an unholy army upon the world to subjugate it to his will. The player must stop him, along with many of his minions, including his wife Lady Butterfly, his general, the Red Minotaur, and his loyal assassins Scorpio and Venus. The gameplay is more in the arcade hack-and-slash style, with the ability to wipe out entire waves of enemies with spells and—as mentioned earlier—to use both modern weapons and historical weapons such as spears, swords, and others. There are also six playable characters to choose from, each with their own story told through CG and anime cutscenes. There are also two game modes: “Conquest” (the game’s main story) and “Free Mode” (in which players can play through all the unlocked levels they’ve already completed).
