Darkened Skye

In the action-packed 3D role-playing game “Darkened Skye,” you take on the role of the title character and set out in search of four prisms that might help bring the light of good back into the world. Skye of Lynlora was just a restless shepherdess when she first stumbled upon the strange object that would change her life forever. Now she has opened a portal to another realm, and chaos has broken out. Only Skye can set things right again. On her travels, she’ll encounter a variety of fantasy characters and creatures as she battles her way through 30 missions across five different game worlds. It’s worth noting that this game—like several other releases from Simon & Schuster (including “M&M’s: The Lost Formulas,” developed by Boston Animation)—features conspicuous product placement in the form of fruit-flavored Skittles. In fact, it is the mystical power of Skittles that helps Skye overcome more than one perilous situation in the game. Despite potential inconsistencies that might arise from incorporating a well-known consumer product into a fantasy world, “Darkened Skye” strives to deliver the graphical quality, compelling story, and cutting-edge gameplay that players expect from a major 2002 release. ~ T.J.
