Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike is a team-based, tactical multiplayer first-person shooter in which players compete on either the terrorist or counter-terrorist side in objective-based rounds. The main game modes are bomb defusal and hostage rescue, which are played on predetermined maps. Between rounds, players purchase weapons and equipment with money earned through eliminations and completed objectives, and eliminated players must wait until the next round to rejoin the game. It was originally a fan-made mod for “Half-Life,” developed in 1999 by Minh Le and Jess Cliffe. It was acquired by Valve and released as a standalone product in 2000. It went on to become one of the most influential first-person shooters and spawned several sequels, including “Counter-Strike: Source,” “Global Offensive,” and “Counter-Strike 2.”
