Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is set in an alternative reality of World War II, in which the Western Allies fought against the Soviet Union. In Red Alert 3, the Soviet leadership, faced with its defeat, travels to the past to kill Albert Einstein and prevent him from helping the Allies, paving the way for Soviet domination in the present. As an unintended consequence, however, a third world power, the Empire of the Rising Sun, emerges and all three sides go to war.

Story

On the brink of defeat at the hands of the Allies, the leaders of the Soviet Union take a desperate gamble. Using a time machine hidden beneath the Kremlin, Colonel Anatoly Cherdenko and General Nikolai Krukov travel back to 1927 to assassinate Albert Einstein—in the hope of erasing the technologies that sealed their fate and to rewrite history in their favor. When they return to the present, the world has indeed changed: The Soviets are on the verge of conquering Europe, but without Einstein, nuclear weapons were never invented. A new power bursts onto this altered timeline: the Empire of the Rising Sun, which declares war on both the Soviets and the Allies in order to achieve total dominance. The intervention in time has triggered a new Third World War—now a three-way struggle between the Soviet Union, the Allies, and the Empire.
