College Hoops 2K8

College Hoops 2K8

College Hoops 2K8 is a video game by Visual Concepts and 2K Sports. It was released on November 19, 2007 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. The cover features Greg Oden, a former player for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Nearly every school then competing in Division I of NCAA college basketball was included in 2K8, including newcomers South Carolina-Upstate, Cal State-Bakersfield and Florida Gulf Coast. Not included were Presbyterian College and North Carolina Central, two independent D-1 colleges. In addition, The Summit League's Centenary College was not licensed and was instead named UL-Calcutta. The game also featured the ability to change and modify the squad and share it online via the newly introduced 2K Share feature. The Real Coaches feature was removed from the game, possibly because coaches did not want to renew their contracts and all coaches remain unnamed. The announcers/commentators in the game were Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery. The College Hoops series was cancelled in 2008 because 2K Sports would not seek the college license for 2K9. EA Sports got the contract before 2K, so EA will continue to develop college basketball games. EA discontinued its college basketball game series in 2010. It is currently unknown if 2K Sports will continue the College Hoops 2K series.
