Burnout Revenge

Burnout Revenge

In Burnout Revenge, players compete in a number of racing game types with different objectives. These take place in rush hour traffic and include Circuit Racing, Road Rage (in which players take down as many opponents as possible within a time limit or until their own car is wrecked), Burning Lap (a one-lap, single-driver time attack mode), Eliminator (a circuit race in which the last-place driver's car is blown up every thirty seconds), and Crash (in which the player stands at an intersection and the objective is to race until only one driver is left); The race continues until only one driver is left) and Crash (where the player stands at an intersection and must collect as many "Crash Dollars" as possible). A new gameplay feature in Burnout Revenge is the ability to ram rectified small to medium traffic, known as "Traffic Checking," which propels the rammed car forward; the event in which a "checked" car hits a rival is scored as a Traffic Takedown. Traffic Checks are the focus of a new race type, Traffic Attack (in which a player must earn a certain amount of Crash Dollars through traffic checks), which can be used later. During these events, players have access to a limited number of boosts that they earn by performing various dangerous driving techniques, such as driving on the wrong side of the road, overtaking opponents, and drifting. Unique in the series is the concept of competing against other rivals. Unlike in other video games of the racing genre, players are encouraged and sometimes even required to ram rivals' cars and cause traffic to crash. Causing a crash is called a "takedown" and rewards the player by extending and fully replenishing their boost meter. In certain events, the boost can also be used to activate a "crashbreaker" that causes the car to explode and crash other nearby cars. If the rival car takes out the player, the player must take the ultimate revenge by taking out the rivals (the arrow on top of the car turns red), which is called a "Revenge Takedown". In the main single player mode, players participate in a world tour consisting of 169 events on three continents, divided into a series of 11 "ranks" (rank 11 has no events). The ranks a player has access to are determined by his/her "revenge rank," which increases as events are completed. By increasing his/her rank enough, the player "moves up" and unlocks the next rank of events. There are 77 cars in the game, some of which can only be used for crash events. The SUVs and sedans are some of them. The game also offers support for multiplayer games, both online and offline. In addition to the racing modes, the game offers three types of crash modes: Crash Battle (multiple players try to reach an intersection at the same time), Crash Party (players take turns trying to reach intersections over several rounds), and Crash Tour (a golf-like version of Crash Party, where players try to collect a certain number of crash dollars in as few attempts as possible; at the end of the last round, the player with the lowest score wins). The Xbox 360 version of Burnout Revenge includes several new features and improves the game's graphics to take advantage of the next-gen console's power. The game includes 10 new crash intersections on the Crash Tour. There is also a greatly improved online mode that introduces Revenge Rivals. This system allows players to track how many times they have eliminated or been eliminated by a particular player. The new version also includes a new Burnout Clips feature that allows 30-second clips of each offline race played to be saved and shared with other players via Xbox Live.
