Bucky O'Hare

This video game is based on the animated series "Bucky O'Hare and the Toad Wars," under license from Hasbro, Inc. Although it is generally classified as a side-scrolling fighting game that uses a game world inspired by "Final Fight," the player character is also armed with a laser pistol, which adds elements of a side-scrolling shooter. However, when the character is extremely close to an enemy, he attacks with his fists—a precursor to the characters in "Metal Slug," who use knives in close combat. Similar to the animated series, "Bucky O'Hare" features colorful animations, and the series' voice actors were hired for the game's cutscenes. The player chooses from five protagonists: Bucky O'Hare, the heroic rabbit captain of the spaceship Righteous Indignation; Jenny, an “Aldebaran cat” and telepath; Dead-Eye Duck, a four-armed mallard; Willy, a boy from Earth who has replaced their engineer; and Blinky, a one-eyed android. As in the TV series, the characters must prevent the Toad Empire from conquering alien planets and enslaving their inhabitants; to do so, they must shoot their way through an army of brainwashed toads to destroy their evil leader, a computer program named “Complex,” and free the “Interplanetary Life Force.” Enemies include Al Negator, Toadborg, Total Terror Toad, a “cyborg spider,” various types of Toad stormtroopers, the Toad Air Marshal, and “Complex-2-Go,” who appeared in both the comics and the animated series.
