Boulder Dash
Boulder Dash was originally released in 1984 for Atari 8-bit computers. It was developed and published by First Star Software and spawned a number of sequels, re-releases and spin-offs. It has also heavily influenced the mining genre of video games, which is reflected in modern games such as Minecraft, Spelunky and Terraria.
Story
The protagonist of the game, named "Rockford", has to dig through caves to collect gems and diamonds and reach the exit within a certain time limit. In doing so, he must avoid various dangerous creatures and obstacles such as falling rocks, and constantly runs the risk of being crushed or trapped by an avalanche or killed by an underground explosion.
