Blitz: The League

Blitz: The League

Blitz: The League is an American football game from Midway as an unlicensed expansion of the NFL Blitz series. It was released in October 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox after the NFL signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Electronic Arts. It is the first game in the Blitz series to receive an "M" rating from the ESRB due to the violence, explicit language and drug use depicted. Lawrence Taylor, who is the game's voice actor, is the official narrator of the game. In 2006, a second version of the game was released for the Xbox 360 in October. In December 2006, a portable version was released for the PlayStation Portable (under the title Blitz: Overtime). These versions featured the voice and likeness of former professional linebacker Bill Romanowski. Originally, the game was to be a Wii launch title, but the Wii version was delayed and eventually canceled. On January 22, 2007, the Office of Film and Literature Classification in Australia refused to classify the game, thus banning it. The game was banned because the use of drugs was associated with incentives and rewards.
