Battletoads

"Battletoads" is the first game in the "Battletoads" series. It is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up that incorporates various elements from racing, climbing, and vehicle obstacle courses. At the start of each game, you have three lives, which are replenished every time you continue after a defeat. The game has neither a save system nor password features. You have a maximum of six health points, which you can replenish by eating flies. It is considered by some to be one of the hardest games of all time and was previously ranked No. 8 on IGN’s list of the “Top 10 Hardest Games to Master.”

Story

Following her recent defeat in the Battle of Canis Major, the Dark Queen decides to take out her anger on her archenemies, the Battletoads. The “Toads” and their mentor, Professor T-Bird, are currently escorting Princess Angelica home to her father, the Terran Emperor. During a rest stop, Pimple takes Angelica for a joyride in the Toadster, but the vehicle and its passengers are swallowed up by the Dark Queen’s ship, the Gargantua, and transported to her tower on the planet Ragnarok. Rash and Zitz are immediately sent to the surface of Ragnarok to rescue their friends. They have no idea of the dangers that await them, but they’re ready to risk everything on their rescue mission.
