Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Using a variety of gadgets, you'll have to make your way through the island and the halls of the Asylum to find and stop the Joker. The game uses a 3-button combat system, but with a large number of gadget abilities that Batman can unlock. This makes for a very cinematic combat experience as you fight against the Joker's goons.

Story

After the Joker raids Gotham City Hall, he is captured by Batman and taken to Arkham Asylum, where many members of the Joker gang, transferred after a fire at Blackgate Prison, are temporarily housed. Batman believes that the Joker has allowed himself to be captured and accompanies him to the asylum. The Joker's plan is revealed when Harley Quinn takes control of security and the Joker escapes into the asylum with the help of a corrupt guard who kidnaps Commissioner Gordon. The Joker threatens to detonate the bombs hidden in Gotham City if anyone tries to enter Arkham, forcing Batman to work alone. When he follows Quinn to the medical facility to save Gordon, Batman is exposed to Scarecrow's fear toxin and hallucinates, seeing Gordon's death and the bodies of his parents talking to him. After fending off Scarecrow, Batman finds Quinn and overpowers her before saving Gordon. The Joker then leads Batman to the captive Bane, on whom the asylum doctor Penelope Young has been performing experiments. The Joker frees Bane and Batman is forced to fight him, with Quinn escaping. After that, he goes to a secret Batcave that he had hidden on the island, where Batman replenishes his gadgets. There, Batman learns that the Joker has returned to the asylum to gain access to Young, who has developed Titan - a stronger version of the Venom drug that gives Bane his strength - to help patients survive more strenuous therapies. Young learned that the Joker had funded her research to create an army of superhuman henchmen; her refusal to hand over the formula prompted Joker's return to the Asylum. While searching for Young, Batman is again attacked by Scarecrow and the fear toxin, and hallucinates the night his parents died. After recovering, Batman destroys Young's titanium formula and saves Young from Victor Zsasz. An explosion kills Young and the Joker obtains the finished batches of Titan. At the penitentiary, Quinn frees Poison Ivy from her cell before she is imprisoned by Batman. Quinn accidentally reveals that the Joker has a titanium production facility in Arkham's botanical gardens. Batman travels there and learns that titanium is produced by genetically modified plants. He asks Ivy's help to make an antidote and learns that it can only be made from spores, which can only be found in Killer Croc's lair in the sewers. On the way to Croc's place, Batman is again attacked by Scarecrow and overcomes several doses of the fear toxin. Meanwhile, the Joker injects Ivy with Titan to boost her powers. Ivy begins to wreak havoc on Arkham Island with giant mutant plants. When Batman pursues Scarecrow into Croc's lair, he is attacked by Croc and dragged underwater. Batman finds the necessary spores and overpowers Croc before returning to the Batcave. However, he can only make one dose of the antidote before Ivy's plants invade the cave and destroy his equipment. Batman returns to the Botanical Gardens, defeats Ivy and stops the angry plants. The Joker announces that preparations for his party are finally complete, and Batman travels to the asylum's visitor center, where the Joker's applauding henchmen greet him. The Joker reveals that he has recaptured Gordon and attempts to shoot him with an arrow filled with titanium; Batman leaps to Gordon's aid and is shot instead. Batman tries to fight off the transformation, and the enraged Joker overdoses on titanium and mutates into a giant monster. In a makeshift arena on the roof of the building, the Joker challenges Batman to a fight as a titanium-induced monster in front of news helicopters. Refusing to transform, Batman uses the antidote on himself and defeats the Titan-infested Joker and his henchmen by knocking his nemesis unconscious with an explosive, gel-enhanced punch. As a result, everyone affected by Titan returns to normal, including the Joker, who is tied up and taken into custody while the police retake the asylum. Batman overhears a call about a crime led by Two-Face and flies back to Gotham City on the Batwing. In a post-credits scene, a box containing the Titan Formula is shown in the sea near the asylum when a hand appears and takes it.
