Story

"Regallzine. A world sustained by the Great Spirit Mana and its elemental forces. Every substance and object in this world is formed by the elements. People live under the protection and guidance of Mana. For the people of Regallzine, Mana is a part of nature like the wind and the trees. However, there are a few people who are able to create something out of nothing with the powers of mana: the alchemists. Little Kiesling, the 17-year-old grandson of Dafune, a famous alchemist, embarks on a journey with Popo, the wooden mana, to surpass her as an alchemist after the death of his grandmother. On his way through the dark forest of South Esvior, Klein encounters a vicious monster. Klein fights bravely against the monster, but his mana power slowly diminishes. When all seemed lost, a beautiful young girl named Lita comes to Klein's rescue. Lita is a monster hunter in the neighboring town of Kavok. She advises Klein that the road to Kavok is dangerous and he will need her help. Klein rejects her advice out of his selfish pride and insists that he will make it through the forest on his own. After the two set out, Klein is ashamed that he did not thank Lita for her life-saving help. As he left the forest, Klein stood on a cliff overlooking the great plains of Esvior. What he saw from the cliff was a city built on a steep mountain. The city that Klein saw is the infamous city of the Esviore region, known as the city in the sky, Avenberry. Klein and Lita do not know this yet, that the two of them will knock on the gates of heaven, and open the ancient path to the legendary 'City in the Sky'."
