Story

In 1190, the wars of the Third Crusade engulfed the Holy Land and Crusaders fought with Saracens for control of the Holy City of Jerusalem. Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, a famous master assassin of the Assassin Order, arrived in Alep after an arduous journey to find that it was under attack by the Assassins' sworn enemies, the Knights Templar. The Assassin had no choice but to repel the attack. He defeated many of them and even killed a low-ranking captain before the attack was stopped. Afterwards, Altaïr was ordered by Rashid ad-Din Sinan, the mentor of the Levantine Assassins, to find and recover a sacred object called the Chalice, which would have the power to unite all factions under the flag of whichever side possessed it, thus ending the Third Crusade for either the Crusaders or the Saracens. Altaïr immediately set out and began his new quest.
