Alundra

Story

Alundra, the silent protagonist and player character, is an elf from the clan of Elna, the dreamwalkers. Due to a recurring dream in which a mysterious figure, whom Alundra calls "Liberator", tells him that he must save the villagers from the evil of Melzas, he sets off for a place called Inoa. The ship Alundra is on is caught in a storm and is broken in half, killing most of the crew and leaving Alundra drifting unconscious. Next, Alundra is washed up on an unknown beach, where a man named Jess finds and rescues him. Jess carries Alundra to his house in the village of Inoa and lets him sleep in his guest room. In the village, Alundra discovers that he is a Dreamwalker, which means he can enter other people's dreams and helps the villagers to get rid of the nightmares that have taken hold of them. Since Alundra's arrival, bad things have been happening in the village: some villagers are murdered in their dreams and are also dead outside their dreams. Some of the villagers end up blaming Alundra for what is happening. Another dreamwalker, Meia, from the Elna clan comes to town and helps Alundra to fight the villagers' nightmares. Later in the game, it turns out that the demon Melzas has disguised himself as a god and is the source of all the village's nightmares. His goal is to get the villagers to pray for their god so that Melzas himself can gain power through their prayers. Ronan, the priest of the village, was also on Melzas' side and helped him to deceive the villagers and get them to pray for Melzas, the false god. When Alundra finds out the truth, he gathers the information and items he needs to get into Melzas' palace and defeat the demon. After Melzas is destroyed, Alundra and Meia say goodbye to the villagers and leave together before going their separate ways.
