Story

In May 1997, several prominent heads of state from the continent of Usea were on a diplomatic mission to an unknown destination, rumored to be the impact of the asteroid Ulysses 1994XF04 in a year's time. During this time, a high-ranking military corps code-named "NA-P2700" couped and quickly established dominance over the entire continent. Their rapid advance resulted in the capture of several key territories in each sector as well as a weapon of mass destruction called the Extra Powerful Cruise Missile. As a last measure, the pro-government forces known as Unified Command call upon the 92nd Special Tactical Fighter Squadron "Scarface," a group of mercenary fighter pilots led by an ace named Scarface One. With hardware and logistical support, the Scarface squadron sets out to fight the Usean rebels and liberate Usea. With the support of the Scarface team, the government forces engage in a fierce battle with the URF and slowly recapture various territories on the continent. The mercenaries attack various important parts of the rebels' infrastructure, such as air bases, oil refineries and seaports. On their advance, they encounter numerous rebel aces, including a group of pilot aces known only as "Z.O.E.". They also attack a number of prototypes controlled by the Usean rebels, such as the Dragonet-class submarine and the giant experimental bomber XB-10 "Big Bad Mama". After retaking most of Usea, the Unified Command launches a large-scale invasion operation to gain strategic superiority. To confuse the rebels, the mission is split into two major operations, "Alphaville" and "Bellissima." The operations end with the destruction of many key URF targets and sites, giving Unified Command the upper hand in the conflict. Eventually, government forces push the remnants of the coup back to their headquarters in the city of St. Ark. To end the coup once and for all, the Scarface team is sent to destroy the surviving rebels in the city and their headquarters. The mission ends successfully, and St. Ark is liberated from the URF. At this point, the story ends with the normal ending.
