1 vs. 100
“1 vs. 100” was a massively multiplayer online adaptation of the game show of the same name for Xbox Live. The game was removed from the service on February 15, 2010, less than three months after its launch. At the start of each round of 1 vs. 100 Live, one player was selected as “The One” and 100 players were selected as “The Mob.” Everyone else remained in “The Crowd.” Selection was based on weekly, round, and season total scores. The game rules were nearly identical to those of the TV show: A question is asked, and both “The One” and “The Mob” must choose one of three possible answers. If “The One” answers the question incorrectly, the game is over and the prize money is divided among “The Mob.” If “The One” answers the question correctly, the members of “The Mob” who answered incorrectly are eliminated. The prize amount increased with every tenth member of “The Mob” who was eliminated. “The One” could choose to cash out at various points or try their luck and keep playing. In the live version, the concept of “The Crowd” was added, allowing hundreds of thousands of players to compete alongside “The Mob” and “The One.” The top three members of “The Crowd” received an Xbox Live Arcade game.
