The Last Story
The Last Story is set on the island fortress of Lazulis, in a world that is slowly being wiped out by an unknown force. The story revolves around a group of mercenaries looking for work on Lazulis; one of them, Zael, dreams of becoming a knight. During the game, the player controls Zael and the mercenary group he belongs to on their missions on Lazulis. Zael can command the rest of the mercenary squad during the missions and fights in battles that include action, tactics and stealth elements.
Story
Embroiled in a seemingly endless conflict, the empire has been slowly weakened by the relentless onslaught of enemy forces. However, despite the weakened state of the mainland, there is a virtually impenetrable last line of defense that fills the entire country with pride and keeps hope alive. This beacon of hope is the island of Lazulis, ruled by the famous Count Arganan. Using an army of weapons that magically - and mysteriously - concentrates beasts in a single region, his island has become a small miracle of power. Among those who come to the island to seek their fortune is Zael, a young man who was orphaned at a young age when his home became one of the many casualties of battle. Although he and his fellow mercenaries are often despised and feared because they are considered a lower class, they manage to attract the eye of Count Arganan. If they successfully complete the tasks the Count sets for them, they may have a rare chance to achieve the honorable status they have only dreamed of - knighthood. During one of these missions, Zael discovers a hidden location that gives him the wondrous yet familiar power to gather his enemies in one place....
