Shining Force II
As students of Astral the Wizard, you and your friends learn all the usual subjects: reading, writing and swordplay. As your school days draw to a close, dark events occur on the island of Grans. The two jewels that seal the gateway to darkness have been stolen, unleashing a creature of immense power. Only the bravest adventurers can find out where the jewels were stolen and why.
Story
In a shrine south of Castle Granseal, a thief named Slade unwittingly breaks the power of a magical seal by stealing the Jewels of Light and Darkness; this frees the demon king Zeon trapped inside. The next day, King Granseal falls ill when he is attacked by an unknown creature. Sir Astral, the court advisor, and his apprentices Bowie the squire, Sarah the healer, and Chester the knight investigate the events in the castle. They discover that the door to the Tower of the Ancients has been unlocked and is open. Upon arriving at the tower, they are greeted by devils called "Gizmos" who sound the attack, although their actual intentions are unknown. After they are defeated, the Gizmo, who seems to be the leader, flees. It is then discovered that he has taken possession of King Granseal. Sir Astral and the nascent Shining Force visit the king and discover that he is possessed. Sir Astral exorcises the demon, who then flees. Instead of King Granseal tending to the unconscious Astral, the Minister orders the killing of the gizmo by a platoon of Granseal's soldiers. Realizing the true danger of the opened door, the Shining Force must fight the invading armies of Zeon to find the Holy Sword and the stolen jewels so that they can once again defeat the Devil King Zeon in the Ark Valley and lock him back up.
