Serious Sam 3: BFE

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a first-person action shooter, a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters, when men were men, cover was only for amateurs, and pulling the trigger made things go boom. Serious Sam. The First Encounter is the prequel to the original Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during Earth's last stand against Mental's invading legions of beasts and mercenaries.

Story

Before 2060 A.D., humanity had slowly begun to discover artifacts and ruins left by the Sirians, the famous and long thought extinct race from Sirius. Unfortunately, Mental chose this time to turn his attention to Earth. He sends out his space fleet with its endless hordes to attack Earth, leading a three-year campaign of conquest that nearly drives humanity to the brink of extinction. In a last-ditch effort, the survivors turn to the Time-Lock, a recently unearthed device supposedly capable of granting a single person the ability to time travel through an interdimensional portal. This would allow that person to reach a pivotal point in time and alter events in the past. However, since the device is inactive, they must first find a way to activate it. Sam "Serious" Stone, a member of the Earth Defense Force, is sent with a detachment of Alpha Team soldiers to modern Egypt, which is occupied by Mental's alien army. Their original mission is to scout, meet and rescue Bravo Team, who are protecting Dr. Stein, a scientist carrying hieroglyphs believed to contain instructions for activating the Time Lock. Sam's mission goes awry when his helicopter is shot down and both teams are quickly wiped out. However, he manages to recover the hieroglyphs from Stein's phone at the museum and transmit them to headquarters. Decipherment reveals that there is a hidden Sirian chamber beneath the Great Pyramid. Sam makes his way to a tunnel under the Sphinx and descends into the pyramid. He not only discovers the hidden chamber, but also finds important information and a bracelet made from the remains of what may be the last Sirian on Earth. To power the time lock, two dormant but incredibly powerful plasma energy generators must be activated. Team Charlie's Hellfire uses Sam to get both of them working. This slowly succeeds and Team Charlie is able to enter the time lock. Sam is relieved of duty and is to be pulled out of Cairo, but is shot down again and is forced to flee towards the lost ruins of Nubia. While traversing more tombs, Sam makes contact with Hellfire again and learns that Mental's forces overran the human military and killed everyone just before she herself died. Now Sam is determined to finish what the Sirians started. He vows to use the time lock himself and kill Mental in the past before he can destroy humanity in the present. Sam then travels one last time to the Temple of Hatshepsut, where the Time Lock is located. The battle to this destination ends with Sam killing Ugh-Zan IV. After Ugh-Zan IV is dead, the time lock is activated and shows an interdimensional portal to the year 3000 BC, the timeline in which the Sirians died out. Sam calls Mental on Stein's phone and is met by Mental's daughter Judy. She tells him that Mental plans to send him to the moon. Sam notices the moon rapidly entering Earth's atmosphere and escapes through the time lock to the year 3000 BC, when the moon hits Earth and destroys the planet.
