Puyo Puyo

Puyo Puyo

Puyo Puyo is a puzzle game in which the player matches four or more "Puyo" of the same color. This game is the precursor of an arcade version of the same name. Puyo Puyo is the first installment in Compile's Puyo Puyo series. It was released on October 25, 1991 for the MSX and Famicom Disk System; the FDS version was released by Tokuma Shoten as part of their "Famimaga Disk" series. The FDS version was later released on a Famicom cart in 1993. Puyo Puyo was superseded by a much more popular arcade game of the same name. Puyo Puyo contains three modes: Endless, Mission and Verse. In Endless mode, players play Puyo until the top of their well is filled. When given the choice, either a giant 2x2 green Puyo or a Carbucle regularly helps the player make room on their board. In Mission mode, the player must complete various challenges, such as clearing a certain number of puyo or clearing all puyo of a certain color. In Verse mode, players can compete against each other.
