Powerdrome

Now in its 24th year, the Powerdrome racing series offers high-speed, high-octane action. Why race on flat 2D tracks when you can race in small planes through a multi-textured half-pipe? Typhoon Racing has taken up the challenge and put you in their machine. There are 6 different tracks that feature chicanes, tunnels and crusher gates. Shades on the tracks indicate whether a turn or a jump is coming up. In single player mode you can compete against 5 computer opponents, while a data link cable allows 2-player games. Each planet has its own atmosphere, and your machine's filters must be adjusted accordingly. Rain on some tracks necessitates a pit stop to change. You are armed with afterburners, which can provide more speed in open air, but should not be overused. In the Amiga version you can adjust the sensitivity of the controls - either way, the joystick is easier to use, but the mouse is ultimately considered faster.
