OGame

OGame

OGame is a strategy game set in space, in which thousands of players from all over the world compete simultaneously. To play, all you need is a normal Web browser. You start with just one undeveloped world and build it into a powerful empire that can defend your hard-earned colonies. Build an economic and military infrastructure to support your quest for the next great technological achievements. Wage war against other empires as you battle with other players for resources. Negotiate with other empires and form an alliance or trade them for much needed resources. Build an armada to enforce your will across the universe. Hoard your resources behind an impregnable wall of planetary defenses. Whatever you want to do, OGame lets you do it. Will you terrorize the area around you? Or will you strike fear into the hearts of those who attack the helpless?

Story

This is the story of a species, a race - it is our race, human beings. Interestingly, the story has not happened yet, but it should be told anyway. At some point you will find that time runs in parallel, that everything that was in the past shapes the present, and that the present is the foundation for the future. A way has been found to visit the past without changing the future. Because you can change the future only if you live it yourself. This may be difficult to understand, but it is true. Only when you know something has happened can you change it, because then it is part of your own past. From then on, you will just disappear, nothing will change, because that is already the past.... your past. It began in the year 2250 - the year 'alpha' - when the first human took the risk of an interstellar flight of more than three minutes duration and thus further than any probe before. It was a new type of engine, called the impulse engine, that enabled mankind to travel at the speed of light. Yes, there were earlier space flights, but they were limited, a mere glimpse into space compared to later achievements. But mankind's natural urge for new adventures continued to drive development, and so space flights were gradually extended over the years. Modern engines used high-energy deuterium fuel, which allowed them to travel from galaxy to galaxy in a relatively short time. Unfortunately, this deuterium was very rare; on Earth, only 0.015% of all water was in the form of this heavy isotope. Later, even the best deuterium was not good enough and a new scientific debate arose, discussing new ways to create an even better fuel than deuterium already was. According to one well-known theory, it was thought possible to combine deuterium with a mysterious gas ejected when a quasar exploded. The quantum chemical reaction with this mixture would release huge amounts of energy, so much more that ships could go faster and faster. Scientist Fred Terrane set out to develop an engine based on this theory. Despite criticism from almost all scientific quarters, the new propulsion engine eventually showed that the theory worked - even though it wouldn't have to, according to current science. In practice, the new engine delivered what it promised, and cultures around the globe were able to move into space even more easily and quickly. There was enough space and places to settle, and so peace and prosperity quickly spread throughout the universe and remained so for many decades. More and more new cultures were discovered and also founded and life spread to every corner of space. The universe was light and peaceful. But it was the calm before the storm.... Even after this prosperous time, research was done on new and faster technologies for propulsion systems. Based on old theories and finally combined with the zeal of young students, a completely revolutionary propulsion technology was created that eclipsed everything known before... Hyperspace propulsion technology. Basically, it is a hyperdimensional bubble that resides in the fourth and fifth dimensions, but isolates its interior from these influences and obeys the laws of fourth dimensional space. There is a narrow field of view of the galaxy in the direction of motion. With this outstanding engine technology, explorers were able to penetrate even further into deep space, and colonization was much faster because of the shorter travel times. Again, a new era was ushered in, the pace of development increased once more, and many new worlds were discovered. Diplomacy was very important during this time and there were not many conflicts between the peoples. Until a previously unknown chemical element called Xentronium was discovered on a colony of a people. The war was about to begin... This chemical element was extremely rare to find and in the first few years after its discovery, only 1.5 micrograms could be harvested. Because it had been found on Terran soil, only Terran laboratories could study this new element. Xentronium was believed to have the power of 10`000 Terran suns per microgram! As this knowledge spread throughout the universe, envy and ill will arose from the darkness and caused conflicts between the peoples, which unfortunately ended in war. Quickly two parties were formed, the one for the Terran faction and the one against the Terrans. It was Nostradamus who once predicted that the war would last 150 years, but reality proved him wrong, because the war lasted more than 300 years. Thousands upon thousands of peoples were torn apart, fell or disappeared completely into annihilation. The side of the enemies of the Terran Federation began to use an ultimate weapon called the "Omega Bomb." As the name suggests, the use of this bomb wipes out entire parts of a galaxy and rids it of any civilization. Hundreds of years after the new
