NASCAR 09

NASCAR 09

NASCAR 09 is the twelfth installment in the EA Sports NASCAR series and the sequel to the 2007 game NASCAR 08, developed by EA Tiburon and released in North America on June 10, 2008 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and cell phones.[1] On March 12, 2008. March 2008, EA announced Jeff Gordon as the title athlete for NASCAR 09.[2] In the "Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup" career mode, Gordon leads a mentorship program,[3] a new feature in NASCAR 09.[4] This is also the third EA Sports NASCAR video game to be released on a handheld mobile system. In October 2007, Electronic Arts moved development of the PlayStation 2 game to a new studio in North Carolina to get better information from NASCAR teams and improve the game. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game continued to be developed at the old studio[5]. Since the development team used certain resources to work on important features in the game, no car manufacturers were represented in the title that year[6]. To date, this is the last NASCAR game produced by EA, and the last NASCAR game for the PlayStation 2, after suffering from declining sales, difficulty adding new features, and lack of popularity. In 2009, NASCAR Kart Racing was released, replacing all the other games in the annual series. It could be EA's last game before the exclusive license with NASCAR expires. But the door to NASCAR games for the PlayStation 2 was closed, since Gran Turismo 5 by Polyphony Digital wasn't presented for the sixth-generation console. For gamers in Canada, the game was released in English only, but the instruction manual and the cover of the packaging were bilingual, with texts in English and French.
