Meteos Wars

Meteos Wars

Meteos Wars is a falling blocks puzzle game based on the Nintendo DS game Meteos. The basic gameplay is identical, but controlling it with a gamepad instead of the touch screen and stylus pair makes it a different game. It consists of a game board where colored meteos crash into the atmosphere of a planet. There they form columns that the player can manipulate. The player moves a red cursor with two buttons to push the meteos up or down. When three or more are lined up horizontally or vertically, they turn into ignited stone and are launched into space (at the top of the screen) by rockets. There they also intercept any incoming meteos and often chain combos together. Ignitions based on vertical matches provide even more powerful ignition. As a group catches more incoming meteos, they become heavier and gravity pulls them down. The player can prevent this by setting off secondary ignitions, either directly in the group or from below. If the meteos can be lifted above the top of the screen, they will fall onto the opponent's playing field. The game is over when a player's board is completely filled. An additional button can speed up time by creating time bombs that are sent into the opponent's board, causing an explosion. Meteos can also turn into ash and fall back down. When the indicator at the bottom of the screen is full, a planetary impact can be triggered. There are four types (Armageddon, Gambit, Sentinel and Tempest), each of which has different effects. They lower attack power, send out more meteos while receiving fewer, fire a meteo missile, and shoot lasers to remove falling meteos as an additional defense. In single player mode, there are three game modes: a Versus battle against the computer, Mission mode, and Attack mode. In mission mode, you have to defeat various planets before reaching Meteo. Along the way, you can unlock new planets and accessories. Multiplayer mode against a human player is available both offline and online.
