Memento Mori
Colonel Ostankovich, the commander of a special police department in St. Petersburg and the man who put his honesty on the line by swearing that not a single item would be lost in the Hermitage under his command, receives a report of a brief alarm failure in the Hermitage. He suspects something has happened. In order not to lose his reputation, he contacts Maxim Durand through Larisa Svetlova. Because of his past, Maxim is at his disposal and must help him.
Story
In their search for the stolen paintings, Max and Lara visit the Hermitage, an old library, the Interpol headquarters in Lyon, the residence in Scotland and other places (mostly on their own). They interrogate suspects, search for data, crack codes and discover forgeries. All their travels finally lead Max, accompanied by his brother, to the Finnish monastery. Strange deaths, secret signs and the increasingly strange behavior of Max's brother André and the people around him bring Max to the edge of his sanity.
