Megamania

Megamania

In Megamania, the gameplay is similar to that of Space Invaders. However, instead of aliens or spaceships, the enemies in this game consist of various objects such as hamburgers, flies and steam irons. The objective is to shoot them down before the energy bar at the bottom of the screen runs out, while avoiding oncoming enemies and their own projectile attacks. The enemies fly in certain patterns and once they reach the bottom of the screen, they reappear at the top until they are shot down by the player. The player's spaceship is a cross between the U.S.S. Enterprise and the Klingon battle cruiser from the Star Trek universe. In terms of gameplay and graphics, MegaMania is very similar to Sega's 1981 arcade title Astro Blaster. Both games feature almost identical patterns of approaching enemies, with the player relying on an "energy" display. The player's ship also bears a remarkable resemblance in both games. When Megamania was originally sold, anyone who scored more than 45,000 points could send a picture of their screen to Activision and become an official Megamaniac. They also received an official Megamaniac emblem[2]. When a player reaches a score of 999,999, the game ends.
