MechWarrior
MechWarrior is the first video game released in the BattleTech series. MechWarrior was the first video game in which players could control a BattleMech from the perspective of a pilot (a MechWarrior). Compared to many of the subsequent MechWarrior games, this game gives the player much more freedom, for example in choosing missions, buying and selling Mechs and parts, recruiting comrades-in-arms, and traveling through the Inner Sphere. In addition to the main game mechanics, the player could also follow a role-playing-style story that developed over a period of five years (game time).
Story
The story is about a mech warrior named Gideon Braver Vandenburg. His family was murdered and the chalice that proves he is the heir to the throne of his planet Ander's Moon was stolen. Without the chalice, he is sent into exile. Gideon must assemble a force of mech warriors and battlemechs, find his family's murderers, and take revenge within five years or all will be lost. The story ends with the victory over the Dark Wing Mercenaries.
