Mario Power Tennis offers variations of tennis matches with characters, courts and scenarios based on the Mario series. The selection of courts includes the usual three types of tennis courts, but especially those that are based on the Mario series games, the so-called "gimmick" courts. These are not only aesthetically adapted to the style, but also feature thematic elements that affect the gameplay on the respective court, such as the ghosts on the Luigi's Mansion court that hinder movement when the character comes into contact with them.
