Lotus Turbo Challenge 2

Lotus Turbo Challenge 2

The second Lotus game shifted the emphasis to arcade-oriented gameplay. As the first game in the series to be released for a game console (for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive under the title Lotus Turbo Challenge), the fuel limit and difficulty levels were removed and the turn-based levels were replaced with course-based timed races (not unlike arcade games like Out Run), where the player must complete each course within a certain time to qualify for the next. In addition to the Esprit Turbo SE, Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 also featured the Lotus Elan SE, which is why the name "Esprit" was dropped from the title. However, there was no choice of vehicle; the player drives the Elan SE in odd-numbered levels and the Esprit in even-numbered levels. Lotus 2's single-player mode uses the entire game screen instead of half, and opposing cars appear in different colors (the opposing cars in the original game were all white). There is no music during the races, however; instead, the player hears the car's engine noise. Lotus 2 was developed for the Amiga and then converted for the other platforms.
