God of War: Ascension

God of War: Ascension

God of War: Ascension, the seventh installment in the God of War series, is a prequel to the previous games. The story revolves around Kratos, the protagonist from the previous parts, who was once a loyal servant of Ares, the god of war. When he is tricked by Ares into unknowingly murdering his own family, Kratos breaks the blood oath that binds him to Ares and leaves his former master. Kratos is then captured and has to find a way to freedom in order to break the bond between himself and Ares. The game retains the familiar hack-and-slash combat system of its predecessors, in which Kratos wields the Blades of Chaos. New, however, is the world weapon system, which allows Kratos to use different weapons. In addition, Kratos can now learn up to four magical disciplines - Fire of Ares, Ice of Poseidon, Lightning of Zeus and Soul of Hades - each of which gives him unique abilities and endows his weapon with magic. Poseidon's ice, for example, allows you to breathe underwater. Rage, a recurring trait, is modified; it accumulates through attacks and when the bar is full, it is automatically released until the player no longer attacks or takes damage. Three new relics give Kratos the ability to manipulate time, create a "shadow self" and destroy illusions created by his guardians. God of War: Ascension introduces online multiplayer to the series. Before players can enter the multiplayer battles, they must choose one of the four gods - Ares, Hades, Zeus or Poseidon - each with their own abilities. As you gain experience and level up your warriors, you unlock magical abilities, armor, weapons, relics and other treasures. The game offers four different multiplayer modes: Team Favor of the Gods, Match of Champions, Trial of the Gods and Capture the Flag

Story

In a war between the astronomically great deities known as the Primordials, the madness and fury of war took shape and became the three guardians of honor, the Furies, who were tasked with punishing any oathbreaker or traitor. The Furies' first victim was the Hekatonchires, Aegaeon, who had broken a blood oath to Zeus himself. The Furies set to work turning Aegaeon's huge body into a stone prison for anyone who would dare to follow his example in the future, believing that death was too kind for someone who had broken an oath to a god.
