Girls' Frontline

Girls' Frontline

Girls' Frontline is a moe anthropomorphism game in which the player controls android characters, known in-game as "T-Dolls" or "Tactical Dolls", each representing a real-life firearm. The player plays a newly recruited commander of an area who commands the T-Dolls in battle and organizes the squadrons and the welfare of the T-Dolls. Battles are a mixture of turn-based strategy puzzles on a set map with enemies that can move, randomized item nodes and helipads/command nodes from which the player can summon their own squadrons or support squadrons that the player's friend sets on their profile for others to use, and real-time battles with enemy squadrons. The battles are mostly automated, but the player can also manually activate the T-Dolls' special abilities or send them to different points in formation (which the player can organize outside of battle to be set as the default formation when entering a fight) or retreat to save health or resources). Players also have the option to withdraw certain squadrons from the mission entirely if they wish. The game progresses by playing the campaign missions, the logistical support missions or the combat simulations to level up each T-Doll. There are also gacha elements in the game, e.g. in the production of T-Dolls and equipment or in the Dormitory with costumes and furniture sets for the T-Dolls. Some sets and costumes are only available for a limited time before a few more sets and costumes are revealed and added. After a while, old costumes from previous Gacha events will be added to the "Black Card" store, where players can exchange a certain number of Black Cards (which they receive when they give the T-Dolls a duplicate costume that was previously given away) for a costume from a previous Gacha set. Players can furnish their dormitories and interact with the chibi variants of the T-Dolls in the corresponding season. They can also give the T-Dolls food and costumes, which increases the T-Dolls' affection. Affection is also gained through success in battle and is lost if the T-Dolls die (unless it is a boss battle) or if another T-Doll dies in the same season.
