Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix

Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix

Set in a crazy, alternate Hong Kong future, Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix is the prequel to the survival horror hit Fear Effect. You play as one of four deadly mercenaries in a team tasked with bringing back the kidnapped daughter of a powerful Chinese manager. The storyline starts with Hana, Glas and Deke, the three main characters from the original game, meeting each other for the first time. Soon after, they meet Rain, a close friend of Hana. Hana, Glas and Deke have different missions to find three items, but soon they realize that they are involved in the same deadly plan. The plot takes the four through Hong Kong, Hell's Kitchen in New York City, the walled city of Xi'an, the lost tomb of the first emperor of China, and finally to the mountain island of the immortals, Penglai Shan. After lunch, things get really crazy!

Story

“Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix” begins in Hong Kong in the year 2048. Players are immersed in the turbulent life stories of the original trio of mercenaries and newcomer Rain Qin, as well as the extraordinary circumstances that brought them together. In the wake of a degenerative global pandemic known as EINDS (Environmentally Induced Nucleotides Degeneration Syndrome—pronounced “ends”), theft, murder, and terrorism have become big business. Hana Tsu-Vachel and Rain Qin are freelance agents, Royce Glas is a washed-up former soldier, and Jacob “Deke” Decourt is a ruthless hitman. Much of the game’s appeal lies in how these unlikely allies manage to band together for a common cause in the first place. From the start, each of them has their own motives, but soon they all become entangled in a sinister conspiracy that goes far beyond politics, espionage, or personal survival. The adventure takes players through a futuristic Hong Kong, the impressive walled city of Xi’an, the lost tomb of China’s first emperor, and finally to the mountain island of the immortals, Penglai Shan.
