Carcassonne

Carcassonne

Carcassonne begins with a single face-up landscape tile and 71 others that have been shuffled face-down and from which the players draw. On each turn, a player draws a new landscape tile and places it adjacent to the tiles already on the board. The new tile must be placed so that it continues the elements of the adjacent tiles: roads must connect to roads, fields to fields, and cities to cities. A section of the game board after several rounds. After placing each new tile, the player who placed it may choose whether to place a token on an element of that newly placed tile. The player who placed the tile may not use a token to claim elements of the tile that extend or connect to elements already claimed by another player. However, it is possible for terrain elements claimed by opposing players to be “split” by subsequently playing cards that connect them. For example, two field tiles, each with a follower on it, can be connected into a single field by another terrain tile. The game ends when the last tile has been placed. At this point, all elements (including fields) award points to the players with the most followers on them. The player with the most points wins the game.
